In this tutorial we will be showing you how to add a created post in a blog page. The tools we will be using will be WordPress version 4.6 and the default Twenty Sixteen theme. This tutorial assume that you have already signed into your WordPress backend and that you have already created a post as per the tutotial How to add a post to a WordPress website.
Go to the “Pages” menu item on the left in the backend per the screenshot below.
On hover over select “Add New“, this will take you to the “Add New Page” page. It has 3 main sections : Title(top), Content(bottom) and Publish(right). As this page will only be housing your blog posts there is no need to add any content to the page itself. We only need to give it a title, in this case we will call it “Blog” and click “Publish” on the right to create it.
On the hover over of “Appearance” select the “Menu” item. In this case we have a menu created already and we only have to add a blog page in which to house our posts. In the “Pages” section your newly created “Blog” page appears. All you have to do it tick the check box and click “Add to Menu“. Once done, move the “Blog” page into an appropriate position, I suggest just above the “Contact us” page in this case and click “Save Menu“.
There are a couple of ways to do the next step and set your “Blog” page as the page that will house all your blog posts, we will cover one of them. On the left hand menu items go to “Settings“. On hover over select “Reading“, this will open up the “Reading Settings“.
Now in the “Post Page” dropdown select the “Blog” and click “Save Changes” at the bottom. Now if you go to your website you will find the “Blog” as part of your menu. If you click it you will find your blog posts.
